The 2026 Indoor Cycling Worlds in Derby, England, have been cancelled, and no new venue has been announced yet. Derby 2026 cancelled
What happened: The 2026 UCI Indoor Cycling World Championships in cycle-ball and artistic cycling were scheduled for 16–18 October 2026 at Derby Arena. On 11 September 2026 it was announced that the championships cannot be held in Derby as planned — the organisers can no longer guarantee delivery of the event. Whether and where the Worlds will be rescheduled has not yet been decided by the world governing body.

The court
A 14 by 11 metre indoor floor with the real markings: a centre circle with a two-metre radius, penalty semicircles in front of the two-metre-wide goals, four-metre spots, boards. The cycle-ball bike has a fixed gear and no brakes — you feel it every time you turn.
The game
One-on-one: carry the ball on the front wheel, shoot, win it back from your opponent — two halves, then the final whistle. Stand in front of your own goal for too long and you are moved back to the halfway line, so goals get scored. To practise there is training against the computer in three levels — it does not count.
The World Championship
With a free account you play live against real opponents: through the waiting list against the next player who is waiting, or in your own room against someone you send the invitation link to. Only these matches count — points, goals and the playing strength that orders the ranking: beating a stronger player earns a lot, beating a weaker one very little, and whoever quits loses. You represent a nation, one of the thirteen from the last Worlds. On 18 October 2026, the planned final day in Derby, the ranking is frozen: first place is the Bikeball world champion 2026.

Are the 2026 Indoor Cycling World Championships taking place in Derby?

Do I need an account for the Bikeball Worlds?
Yes, a free one: register with an email address and password (the address is confirmed with a code) or with a Google account, plus a player name and the nation you represent — one of the thirteen from the last Worlds. Points, goals and playing strength belong to the account, not to the device. You can delete the account yourself at any time.
How does the Bikeball Worlds ranking work?
Ordered by playing strength, not by how often somebody plays: beating a stronger player earns a lot, beating a weaker one very little, a draw sits in between. Everyone starts at 1000 points; equal opponents exchange 8 points, double in the first ten matches. You are in the list from your first multiplayer match; anyone who does not play for 14 days rests until they play again. Quitting is losing (0:5), and training games against the computer do not count. On 18 October 2026, the planned final day in Derby, the ranking is frozen; first place is the Bikeball world champion 2026.
What is Bikeball?
Bikeball is the world's first cycle-ball game for iOS and Android, currently in development. Until launch, bikeball.app offers three browser games: the World Championship duel, a four-metre penalty shoot-out and Bikeball Jump.
Can I play the Bikeball Worlds on my phone?
Yes. The duel runs in the browser on iPhone, Android phones and desktop computers. On a phone you play in landscape with two sticks; on a computer with the arrow keys, the mouse and the space bar.
What is cycle-ball?
Cycle-ball — Radball in German — is football on bicycles: two against two on a 14 by 11 metre indoor court, and the ball may only be played with the bike and the head. Together with artistic cycling it forms indoor cycling, a discipline of the world governing body UCI. The rules, simply explained.
