Cycle-ball U23 Euros: Czech gold and bronze in Kamenz
The U23 European Championships in cycle-ball were held on Saturday, 19 September 2026, at the Sporthalle am Flugplatz in Kamenz, Germany, hosted by RfV 1900 Wiednitz. Ten pairs from six nations started in two groups of five. Two Czech teams ended up on the podium: Martin Konečný and Dominik Šabata took the title, David Petr and Michal Musil the bronze medal.
The first semi-final was an all-Czech affair, which Konečný/Šabata won 4-2. In the final they defeated Austria's Max Schallert and Timo Lampert 2-1; the Austrians had earlier eliminated Germany 1 (Sullivan Pittner/Lenny Schwarzbauer) 4-2. The bronze-medal match between Petr/Musil and Pittner/Schwarzbauer was level at 4-4 after extra time and went to a penalty shoot-out, which the Czech pair won.
The champions had a rough start. They lost their first two group games to Switzerland 2 (1-2) and Germany 1 (1-3), then beat Germany 2 (4-2) and France (3-1) to finish second in their group, while Petr/Musil topped the other group unbeaten. According to the Czech cycling federation (Český svaz cyklistiky), coach Miroslav Berger called it the best Czech result ever in this age category, as two Czech teams had never before shared a U23 podium. The federation also noted that Petr and Musil had finished ahead of Konečný and Šabata in the national qualification.
Germany 1 finished fourth, ahead of Germany 2 (Torben Noatnick/Leon Mambk) and Germany 3 (Christian Kropat/Raphael Seidel). Slovakia came seventh, followed by France and the two Swiss teams. The Czech federation added that the national championships in Zlín, which decide the Extraliga title, follow a week later.
