World Cup in Großkoschen: Dornbirn win, Großkoschen 1 finish fourth
RV Dornbirn have won the World Cup round in Großkoschen. Patrick Schnetzer and Markus Bröll, the former world champions from Austria, gave the Swiss pair Yannick and Timon Fröhlich of RS Altdorf 1 no chance in the final, winning 8-4 – a result reported by both rad-net.de and radball.at.
Hosts RSV Großkoschen 1, with Eric and Tim Lehmann, finished fourth as the best German team. Their semi-final against Dornbirn was lost by the narrowest of margins, 5-6, and they then went down 4-6 to VCE Dorlisheim in the bronze-medal match. The club's second team ended the tournament in seventh place.
The winners' route to the final was straightforward: in Group A, Dornbirn beat Großkoschen 2 (Norman Tuppatsch/Tobias Kolba) 11-3, SC Svitavka (Jan Kripner/Jiri Hrdlicka) 10-3 and Dorlisheim (Mathias and Quentin Seyfried) 7-3, with Dorlisheim second in the group on four points. Altdorf dominated Group B with three wins, including 7-4 against Großkoschen 1, who took second place on six points after beating Sulz 2 (Maximilian and Philipp Schwendinger) 4-1 and SK Chodsko (Jan Holar/Martin Kobes) 12-1. In the semi-final Altdorf then beat Dorlisheim 4-3.
The World Cup series continues on 10 October in Prechtal. Germany's entries there are the hosts, RVC Prechtal with Simon Becherer and Marco Joos, plus Valentin Notheis and Felix Weinert of RKV Denkendorf and Michael Birkner and Robert Mlady of RMC Stein. The women will compete for World Cup points at the same event – among them reigning world champions Judith Wolf and Danielle Holzer (SG Hofen/Prechtal), Leonie Reinicke and Isabell Kaiser (SG Fraureuth/Langenleuba) and Daria Dönig and Verena Volk (SG Arheilgen/Prechtal).
