Cycle-ball weekend: Czech U23 title, cup wins in Hardt and Waldrems
The headline result of the weekend came from Kamenz, where the U23 European Championships were decided: Czech pair Martin Konečný/Dominik Šabata beat Austria's Max Schallert/Timo Lampert 2-1 in the final. Bronze went to their compatriots David Petr/Michal Musil, who overcame Germany 1 (Sullivan Pittner/Lenny Schwarzbauer) in a penalty shoot-out after the match had finished 4-4 following extra time.
At the Franz-Laufer-Gedächtnis-Pokal in Hardt on Saturday, 19 September, the hosts' Florian Müller/Jannic King won the elite tournament (Oberliga/2. Bundesliga), defeating Jari Kern/Michael Grütter of RS Altdorf 2-1 in the final; RV Kemnat 2 (Dominik Schmidt/Florenc Rapp) took third. In Waldrems, Sven Holland-Moritz/Bernd Mlady of SG Iserlohn/Stein claimed the 6th Siegfried-Winter-Gedächtnispokal with a 10-4 final win over Marcel Schüle/Björn Bootsmann of RSV Waldrems. Hardt's Verbandsliga/Landesliga bracket went to Lukas Loch/Christian Davidsen, who needed a penalty shoot-out to see off Nicola Bötschi/Klaus Fleig.
The elite final of the Radballcup in Fraureuth also went to penalties: Jakob and Daniel Kaiser of Fraureuth 1 edged Silas Öhlert/Moritz Rettensteiner of Hofen 6-5, with Eisenbühl finishing third. The Alfred-Helminski-Gedenkturnier in Cochstedt was won by Sangerhausen with six wins from six matches, ahead of Göhlsdorf and Gifhorn.
In the youth categories at Hardt, according to radball.at, Jonah Müller/Elias Auber (U11), Sarah Kraller/Frieda Rümmele (U15 women), Fabrice Gerbig/Louis Maier (U19) and Christopher Smith/Timo Ehrmann (beginners) came out on top. In Fraureuth, Mateo Hirschfeld/Cedric Kern won the U15/U17 final 5-2 against Moritz Schmidt/Kolja Stiegler, Nele Linz/Fabienne Ebert took the U13/U15 girls' title 2-0 over Merle Teichmann/Anika Hupfer, and Noah Teichmann/Alois Hupfer beat Marlon Döbel/Lukas Gerdes-Treff 2-1 in the U13 final.
